Support from the right organisations and professionals, being heard, having someone to talk to, and having a safe space to think or just be, is critical to staying safe and ultimately escaping and surviving domestic abuse.

Get Help For Domestic Abuse

  • Tell the police by calling 101 or go online here. In an emergency call 999.

  • Call the National Domestic Abuse helpline on 0808 2000 247.

  • If phoning the National Domestic Abuse helpline isn’t an option, use this contact form instead.

  • Chat online with someone from Refuge here or Women’s Aid here.

  • Find your nearest SAFE SPACE to think, talk or get specialist support here.

 

Other Support Services

  • Speak to your employer’s HR department or designated liaison for help and support and advice.

  • Text the free 24/7 mental health support service SHOUT on 85258 24/7 for anonymous and confidential support. Shout will connect or refer you to other services if you need them.

  • Find out if the perpetrator has an offending history by requesting information under Clare’s law using this link. You can also go into a police station and make an application.

  • Access the Freedom Programme online here. The Freedom Programme is a free domestic abuse programme which provides information to help people make decisions about their relationships. It is provided by hundreds of agencies across the UK. You can also access the online version of the course at a cost of £12.00 here.
